About me
Hi, I guess you've found the page where I'm supposed to say things about myself and how I got here. In truth, it all feels very accidental but I will try to give you some context!
-
My name is Ash - I'm in my mid-twenties and live in London.
-
"Catt" is taken from my surname.
-
I've studied both history and climate change, and this may bear small influences on my kitchen activities.
-
I want food to be a source of happiness, and I always want to adopt a "do what you feel" attitude to both my cooking and the way that I write about this.

Originally I was pretty hesitant to start a blog. It felt pretentious and fraudulent for me to even entertain the idea, let alone to go ahead and create it. What could I possibly say about food which hadn't yet been said?

These self-doubts run entirely counter to my ethos; that the output of our cooking, if it's something we care about, is partially forged within our personal circumstances. Regardless of our awareness, to share our observations is to create personal annals of history. The kitchen can become an medium through which we share stories we might have been reluctant to do prior.

So before I convince myself that I am some kind of culinary charlatan, I'm going to remind myself that this is as much for me as it is for any kind of "audience" it might garner. Within that, I hope to always write candidly and sincerely.
